UNITED POLITICAL PARTY

(To the Editor.) Sir, —"Anti-Socialist" in your issue of Tuesday lias some curious statements for which one would like to have some authentication. He tells us thatl Mr. Davy "is said to have declared, etc., etc." Who says ■that Mr. Davy had declared the statements attributed to him by "Anti-Social-ist"? We all know that Dame Eumour is a lying jade, and "Anti-Socialist's" whole production appears to be based upon the tai-radiddles of that imainiable lady. But if Mr. Davy did say what is attributed to him, what.then? Has not the present Government dabbled in Socialism from dairy control to the running of urban ' bus services? Has it not, in defiance of its own slogan, "less Government in business and more business in Government," interfered more with private business than any Government New Zealand has ever known? Ask the business community about it. They1 know and are not reticent of speech about it either. The rest of the letter is a mere hash of irrelevant, unrelated, and uncertified statements, founded on rumour or imagination. One may dismiss it with the old 'scornful Scot's saying, "They say what say they? Let them say."—l am, etc., LIBERAL.
