BANKRUPT STOREKEEPER A meeting of the creditors of Mrs. Grace Mary Morris was called for yesterday afternoon, but, in the absence ot the bankrupt and of auy-'Stateiuunt from her, the Official Assignee said that there no alternative to adjourning the meeting sine die, in the hope that the police would be able to trace her or her husband. One of the three creditors present said that when Mrs. Morris, who kept a grocery store in Berhampore, got into financial difficulties a meeting of her creditors was called. She offered 10s iv the £, but as they thought the estate would pay about 15s in the £ and as a buyer was prepared to take over the business and to pay goodwill, they preferred to take their chance rather than to accept her offer. She ultimately agreed to sell, but her husband refused to hand over the keys so that stock could be taken until the money had been paid. The cash was paid, but when it was suggested that it should be handed over to:the creditors the bankrupt and her husband wanted to be exonerated from any further claims. However, the bankrupt retained the cash, about £150, and disappeared, leaving debts amounting to between £303 and £400.
