ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED

A verdict ot; accidental drowning was returned by the Coroner (Mr. W. G-. Riddoll, S.M.), at an inquest yesterday afternoon on Anthony M'Hale, aged 50, an unemployed seaman, who fell into the harbour on Tuesday afternoon. | The evidence showed that the deceased was seen under thei nfluenee of liquor some time before he/ met lira death. Immediately before ho fell into the water ho was noticed sitting on a stringer on the Queen's Wharf. One witness considered that M'Hale was not in the water more than two minutes. Artificial respiration was applied, but without success. In giving his finding, the Coroner said that it was difficult to say how the deceased folk off the wharf. Evidently he had taken a very substantial meal, which must have affected his condition.
