SUGGESTED IN. AUCKLAND (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 29th May. ■ The inquiry into Auckland's transport problems took a new)turn to-day when it was suggested on -behalf ofthe local bodies represented at: the Transport Commission, that the City - Council should confer with the.suburban authorities to discuss-tho question of establishing a Transport Board. As the result of a luncheon-hour consultation it was agreed that the City CouAcil should hold a. meeting to discuss tho suggestion for a conference. This meeting will probably take place to-mor-row. Tho suggestion of a conference was made after tho chairman, Mr. Barton, S.M., had rcferrod to the necessity for cutting down the evidence in view of the fact that tho Commission had been sitting foi: a month. He also said'the . evidenco to date tended, in the opinipn of tho Commission, to indicate that neither a> Greater Auckland nor a metropolitan board was within the scheme of practical politics of the present or the near future.
