Captain XCingsford Smith has announced definitely that. the starting time for the Pacific flight will be 9 o'clock on Thursday morning. He declared that nothing but impossible flying conditions will delay £he start. "It is perfect flying weather," he stated. "The Southern Qross is in excellent condition, requiring nothing but careful final tests, which are now being given by the mechanics." A start will be made down the same runway from which Maitland, Hegenberger, and others flew to Honolulu.
