E. Durnan was a Canadian oarsman who challenged George Towns for the sculling championship of the world, racing for the title on the Nepean Biver, N.S.W., on 2nd March, 1907, tho Australian winning by three lengths in 22min 27sec, rather slow time. This was the only occasion in . which Durnan rowed for the world title, though he was very successful in Canada in the days of his prime. • . ■ '
