PREPARING FOR ELLERSLIE j TO-DAY'S GALLOPS (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Cold and showery weather prevailed 'at Ellerslie this morning for the training operations. Nevertheless there was a large attendance of spectators to witness the work. The No. 1 grass, one trestle out, was used for galloping and hurdles were erected on the outside of the course proper. The steeplechase course was. also available, and t?iero were a number of interesting schooling tasks over the big fences. The going was heavier than it has yet been on the No. 1 grass track. The' first to work were Eoyal Tea and Thnrsby, who jumped away at the five-furlong post and fan the distance in lmiu 8 2-ssee. Eoyal Tea slipped when running the first furlong and was nearly down, but at tho finish he was a shade in 'front of Thursby. Parfait Amour did strong work, butwas not timed. - C'orinax started off over a round in company with Piet, and after passing tho six furlong post ho was,joined by Tho Thorn. Piet pulled out between tho four and three furlong post, and Corinax finished up lengths ahead of The Thorn. He completed tho distance in 2min 40-4-ssec, tho last seven furlongs being run in linin 38 4-ssec. '. Marita did strong work over a round, running the last seven furlongs in lmin 42 2-ssec. ' * King Emerald sprinted homo from tho half-mile post in 54 l-ssec. . . After breakfast Lomint and Cynthia N. set out over a rewind. They kept together throughout the journey, which they completed in lmin 59 l-ssec, the last seven furlongs being covered in lmin 37 4-ssec. It was a good gallop, both going exceptionally well. They handled the going in good stylo. Scot Free was sent over a round and completed the journey in 2min 3 4-ssec. . ; Master Doon (G. Holland) and Storm Fiend (T. Tito) ran soven furlongs in lmin 37soc, .finishing together. Importer and Karamu went a round, which they covered in lmin 55 4-ssec, tho former having a shade the better of it at the finish. Dave, Judge's Box, and Captain GazeIcy hopped off at the five furlongs post, Dave and Judge's Box , finishing together, well in front of Captain Gazeley, the time being' lmin 8 4-ssec. Llewellyn and Lord Guy wore timed to run the last six furlongs of their, work in lmin 26 2-ssec! Whakarite was not hurried to traverse five furlongs in lrnin 12 2-ssec. < Nucleus and. Kilburn were associated in a run from the six-furlong post, the time being lmin 24 4-ssec. They finished together. Blue Spear and Killute covered seven furlongs in lmin 36 3-ssec. Manly, Mountain Guide, and Sunny Morn finished in that order over six furlongs, 'which took lmin 24 l-ssee. Manly went well. Marble Mount was timed to run seven furlongs in lmin 38 3-ssec, pleasing by the display. Pompeius and Star of the East ran a mile in lmin 56 sec. Tho former finished well in front. Tuki and Town Bank were timed to run the last seven furlongs of their work in lmin 42sec. They finished on terms. Kauri Park, Odin, and Clockwork were companions over a round, running the distance in 2min 5 3-ssec, the last mile taking lmin 56sec. ■'. THE JUMPERS. Abbott's Delight and Spalmore went over four hurdles in the centre. They gave a safe display. Wee Marble (Garrett), Comical (Mr. Eussell); Kamehameha (S. Henderson), Lord Bruce (C. Regan), Haeremai (Gilniour), Brigadier Bill (Alan M'Donaid), Lady Cintra (R. Savage),' Master Noel (Sharkey), Euby Bing (Alister M'Donald), and Mangani (J. S. M'Eae) were sent over a round of big fences, including the hill. Mp-*t Noel was late in getting to the starting point, and the others were jumping the sod wall when he was just past the double. His rider turned him round, and he was first over the double along the back.' Betty Zane (H. Dulieu) joined in in front and led the field up tho hill. Mangani slipped after landing over the second fence on the hill and lost his rider. Betty Zano pulled off on to the sand at the top of the straight, and the rest of the field continued on over tho fpnees on the flat. As they finished the order was: Wee Marble, Comical, Kamehameha, Lord Bruce, Haeremai, Brigadier/Bill, Lady Cintra, Master Noel, and Buby Ring. The first time round Brigadier Bill, Comical, and Buby Bing took the water jump. Timed from the first obstacle, tho sodwall, the round took 2min 52sec. Bafferty (Began) was sent over the steeplechase, fences, including the hill, and finished up his task by giving a good, safe display. Beau Cavalier (J. S. M'Crae) wont alone for a, round over the big fences, starting at the sod wall and going over tho double, stone wall, brush, and hill, and finishing over the fences on the flat. He gave an excellent exhibition, and made many friends for his Great Northern engagement. Beau Cavalier's time for the round was 2min 50 3-ssec, and the full task occupied 3min 22see. Geyserland (Alan M(Donald) and San Fera( Alister M'Donald) werb allotted a similar task. They both gave a safe display, although they had not ( as much pace on as those that schooled previously. Tho jumpers Vexatious (M'Brearty) and Mount Marta (Jarvis) were sentover four hurdles on the course proper. Mount Marta fell at tho last hurdle and injured.his back, with the result that he had to be destroyed. Vexatious's time from the first hurdle till negotiating the last hurdle was lmiri 16sec. Mister Gamp (A. M'Donald), Aberfeldy (Tilson), ■• Mia Bella (M'Rae), Royal Form, and Paiana (Savage) were sent over fivo hurdles on the course proper, and finished in that order. Mister Gamp and Aberfeldy were the leaders for the greater portion of - tho way, and gave a good display. Maunga (Griffiths) was allotted a similar task, and he was not hurried at any stage. Ho gave a good,' safe exhibition of jumping. Quincoma (Henderson), Archeno (Garrett), and Adjuster (Sharkoy) were sent over four hurdles on tho course proper. Adjuster fell at the last and ■same obstacle as Mount Marta. Archeno and Quincoma wero together in front for most of. the way, but the former made a faulty jump at tho last hurdle and Quincoma was a shade in front at the finish. The time for the four hurdles was lmin llsec. Miss Alma started out over fivo hurdles on the course proper, but baulked at the second and lost her rider. She was not further persevered with. Bed Fuchsia (Baker)' and Peneus (A. M'Donald) set out over four hurdles. Tho former got away in front, but Ponous took charge as. they came across the top, and was leading at the last hurdle, whero he foil, but neither horse nor rider was' injured. The time was lmin ISsec. Passin' Through arrived at Ellerslio t this morning in charge of bis owner-
