COMPETITOR HURTCTnited Tress Association—By Electric Telei graph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, 27th May. The aerial derby was won by Captain Follett iv DRSO, the time being 23min 4 2-ssec. Captain Matthews, in DH4, was second, and J. Stewart, in a Moth, third. Flight-Lieutenant A. G. Wells, a-com-petitor in an Air Force DH9 machine, struck a high ■ tension electric cable, which tore off both wings and then fused with a blinding flash, the machine crashing. Wells was badly injured, and may lose his eyesight. His forehead is crushed and hi ■ condition is critical.
