REPRESENTATIVE BUTLER
WASHINGTON, 26th May. Thomas S. Butler, chairman of the House of Representatives' Naval Committee, is dead, aged 72 years. . The late Mr. T. S. Butler, one of the best-known of the older politicians in tho United States, was born at Uwchland Township, Pennsylvania, in 1855. Educated at various schools in Chester County, he"' was admitted to the Bar when quite a young man, and ■ before he became a Congressman in 1897 he sat on •the Bench as a Judge of the Fifteenth Judicial District of Pennsylvania. Ha was appointed chairman of the Naval Committee of the House of Representatives several years ago, and during that time has been a staunch supporter of the American principle of limitation of naval 'armaments. ■
