50,000 VISITORS

_ «. SYDNEY PREPARING FOR EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS ■ (From "The Post's" Representative.) SYDNEY, 17th May. An enormous amount of organisation work is necessary to ensure the smooth running -of arrangements during . the Eueharistic Congress to!be held in Sydney later in the year. Fifty thousand overseas visitors are expected to attend this great Roman Catholic Congress, and the provision of the necesasry accommodation presents a problem of vast magnitude. An efficient organisation is rapidly bringing order out of chaos, so that by the time the first shipment of delegates arrives the whole organisation will function like clockwork. To find a vacant room or a spare bed in the metropolitan area during August or September will be well-nigh impossible. ,Every available hotel, boarding-house, and flat, and even private family homes, have been booked up to accommodate the visitors. Sydney has boon combed/with a thoroughness never before equalled, and more .than 8000 beds have been secured already. But oven so it was'found that the available accommodation was far beneath the requirements. Now private Roman Catholic families have been served with. a questionnaire in order that the authorities, may discover the size of their homes, the number of the family, the number of visitors it will be possible to accommodate, and also the financial circumstances of the family.' As this information comes to hand it is being indexed, and the organisers assert that they will be in a position to fulfil all .requirements.
