'VARSITY'S NARROW WIN. 'Varsity and Karon wrc well matched, but the students were on the aggressive throughout the first spell. Within a few minutes of the commencement of play, 'Varsity opened their score. The Karori backs relieved and play went to the 'Varsity area for a while. Good work by the 'Varsity defence sent the leather back to the Karori territory and thereafter until the end of the spell was in the Karori half, the Black's custodian doing good work. 'Varsity netted twice in the second spell, and Karori put on a similar'number of goals, but were unable to equalise, the game ending: 'Varsity 3, Karori 2.
