PORT NICHOLSON CLUB A circular course was taken for the road race under the auspices of.the Port Nicholson Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday afternoon, and as a result spectators at the winning post were able to see the progress of the competitors '.when half the journey had boon covered. •The full distance was 13i miles, :and at half-way the scratch .men had gained lmin 43sec. They made, further good progress on the second round, and finally Gano and Bray (both from scratch) finished in second and third places. The result was as follows: —H. Barber (4min), 1; M. Gane (scr), 2; "WV Bray (ser), 3; B. Toomath (lmin), 4. Fastest time was: registered by M. Gane (34min 46sec), with W. Bray second (34min 46 l-sscc). The next rnco is ta be decided under Olympic conditions -(uhpaced), 'the distance being set. .down at 22 j miles. , Cyclists were on' the roail in large numbers on Saturday afternoon, the Cyclists' Touring Club having an enjoyable run through the Hutt Valley and afterwards spending a pleaaant evening in the ■ clubro.bm. The club's headquarters next weekend" will be transferred to Orongorongp, whore a camp will be established, and s in addition to those cycling out on .Saturday, it is expected that a large number of i cyclists will make the trip on the King's Birthday (Monday).
