Police' cases -in .the Magistrate's. Court to-day wore dealt with by Mr. -E. Pag3, S.M. ■ Two first offenders for drunkenness were fined 10s each. For a fourth offence of drunkenness, William Michael M'Elwain, a labourer, aged 60, was fined £2, in default seven days'- imprisonment. Francis Doran, a seaman, aged 62, was fined 10s for his second offence of drunkenness. '■■'.• Four months' imprisonment was imposed on Abraham Novak, a compositor, for the theft of. three . type-writers and. a sum of £5. "The thefts appear to have been carefully planned," said Mr. E. Page, S.M., and I am not able to admit him to probation."
