Next Woek. . There will be an abundance of racing next week-end. Tlie OtaUi, Auckland, and Dunedin. Meetings all open on Saturday. .Tho Auckland and Duncdin Meetings go 'on on the Monday and Wednesday following, and the Otaki Meeting concludes on the Moirday. Nominations for the Napier Park -Meeting close next Friday./-". Last Night's Acceptances. As was confidently expected tho acceptances received for the Great Northern Meeting wore really good. None of the , well-fancied horses have dropped out of ■ the .main events, with the possible exception of Desert Glow in the hurdle race, for which he was being rather keenly discussed. It was a tough event for a maiden hurdler and no doubt recognition of this fact caused his withdrawal. Dick has dropped out of the steeplechase, which can be taken to indicate that his Hawera injury has not yielded quickly to any

treatment. In the mirfor events big fields will be seen out and it looks a certainly that the Jervois Handicap will have to be divided into two 'separate races, making an eight-event card. . / •Nearer home, the-Otaki prospects are really excellent. Big iields will be the rule throughout, and as the meeting is popular with Wclliiigtonians some good -racing should be eiijoycd by a big crowd. Tresham, as rather expected, has dropped out of the Raukawa Cup, but in both of the main events the fields are good in quality and quantity. The minor events do not suffer in comparison. Apart from a. rather disappointing acceptance for the- Otago Steeplechase, the Dunedin Jockey Club should'provide some good fare for its patrons on Saturday next. The fields are representative of the South Island, and a number of North ' Island horses wow owned in the South, together with Black Mint and Royal Game, will add interest to racing folk in these parts. May Be, Worth a Thought. Geyserland handicapped at 9.5 in the Hunt Club Hurdles at, Ellerslie may be worth keeping in mind.- At Hastings last month he was always handy to, the leaders, and finished a very good fourth to Peneus, Ballyfarnon, and Peshwa, with Mixed Heather and Braemari 'behind him. This form appears good enough for hunters' hurdle races. He is trained by Miss G. Maher for Mr. F. Armstrong,. and probably, will have A. M'Donald in the saddle at • Ellerslie. He has won point-to-point races, so there is no reason ■c 'to doubt his jumping ability or his pace. Aberfoldy.' ' Aberfdkly's admirers are in ,nowise disheartened over his defeat in the Century Hurdles and he continues in favour* for the Great Northern Hurdles. It was stated he did not do well at the commencement of, his northern trip, but he -seems nice and. settled at1 lijllerslic and looks, benefited, by his race last week. If Aberfeldy wins' the Great Northern Hurdles, his connections way decide to give him a chance ih; the Great Northern Steeplechase, as.he has had a little experience over country, having raced in a steeplechase at Randwick Jast ycai\ Recommended. There is no doubt that Bourn is a ■•capable jumper, and it is only because he has been frequently troubled with imsounduess that he does not possess a better record (writes "Archer"). -In addition to being in the hack hurdle events at the Auckland Winter Meeting, Bourn is also in the Winter Steeplechase, and he is .a liorso with' prospects of winning some .money at 'the'.meeting.";Only•'"last month he gave a taste of his quality by winning at To Rapa, and, if he goes on- the right way in the meantime, may be worth following. ■ ' His Turn.Due Again.. Twelve..months ago Tinokoa sprung a surprise ia beating a big field in thp King George Handicap at Ellerslie. Since then he has not been a success, and lias lately been racing below that form, although he rah third at his last start. As a result of his failures he is vow.in a nice position in- the handicaps, and would only-require to strip his. best to"have exceltent prospects of winning a race at tfie coming meeting. -It is on , the cards he might succeed one. day at the meeting, as ho will be racing under his favourite conditions. ■ Odds and Ends. Cureaform, fit aiid well,' will be a hard nut to crack in the minor' steeplechases at Ellerslie. The imported horse: Lbrietit IT. is bein" discussed for sprint events at Ellerslie ° It is now reported thufj. S.-Jl'Rae will ride Beau Cavalier in the Great Northern Steeplechase. It was decided yesterday that, Black -Uint and .Koyal Game will raec'at Wi-iga-tm next week-end. 11. Pritchard will ■ ake them South and they should do well on the trip. Mr. J. S. Barrett has purchased Wharncliffe to take the place of Charlatan as his steeplechase horse this season. wi " E" r ,ElliSi- cx P"cts to be riding again at the Uunedm Meeting next Saturday. ,
