NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED
While it is'said that the Government employment bureau iv Leeds street is not attended by everyone out of work, and that its records are therefore not complete, Labour leaders; have of late urged" all unemployed men to record their names there,-and the figures are undoubtedly of some value.- Inquiries to-day showed that there are at present 550 unemployed on the register-, a number which it is anticipated will be increased shortly. The last week's official figures were 494, arid tho week before'49s. These figures include the unemployed in all towns and villages in the Wellington district, and .though the number of unemployed in the Hutt Valley is small, it is included in the above- records. . J
