NOBILE'S PLANS
FOILED BY ADVERSE GALE CROSS AND FLAG NOT DROPPED Australian Press Association. (Received'v2sth May, 1 p.m.) LONDON,, 24th May. ' King's Bay reports that a northwest gale was so adverse that General Nobilo was unable to carry out his full plans for the Pole. It was impossible to land, because the anchor would not hold*and he could not drop the Pope's wooden commemorative cross or the Italian flag.' In a wireless message at 11 in the morning he annqunced that lie was flying over unexplored parts of North Greenland, arriving at King's Baj'j. at midnight.
