Pressure;: however, dSire^ latively low in the : Far->' North,,' and there is evidence of "the /developmerit of a cyclone in the Northern Tasman Sea. Strong south to east winds have brought unsettled showery conditions to most districts, and some heavy rain at places on the east coast from Kaikoura, northwards, but in the southern half of the South Island and Weatland the weather has been chiefly fair. Temperatures have been keen and frosts have been prevalentj mpre:; especially, in the South Island. ,J.The iforeeast. is for moderate to^.stipng.^sottth'-e'ast .tip east winds, reaching" gale ..force at places north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, later backing to north-east.
