LODGE MEETINGS
The quarterly summoned meeting of the Melrose Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held last Tuesday, when P.A.'Bro. 0. Goddard presided in the absence of A.D. Bro. Birkett, who had tendered his resignation owing to leaving for Auckland. The meeting was largely attended, and visitors were present from various lodges. The D.P. of No. 21st District was also present. Two new members" were initiated at this meeting, thus concluding the competition which has been • running for the last twelve months for a' gold medal presented by P.D.P. Bro. J. Johnston. Competition has been close between Bros. Hall and Birkett in this connection, the winner eventually being Bro. Hall, secretary of the lodge. Further interest is now being evinced for the ensuing six months for a medal donated by P.A. Bro. R.Marshall. The election of officers was keenly contested, in some cases ten nominations being received.
