MASTER BUILDERS
THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE There was a representative attendance of members of the Wellington Master Builders' Association at a general meeting at which Mr. W. Mill, president, presided. Mr. G. D. Dick, the association's representative on the Technical College Board, gave an interesting report on technical training facilities and the work being accomplished at the Technical College. He said the college authorities and staff were doing splendid work, and the popularity of the college was ovidoneed by the fact that there were on the roll to-day 803 day pupils and 1419 evening pupils—an increase of 333 on the previous year. . Mr. Dick went on to mention that Mr. Rosser, one of the Technical Col- !' logo instructors, had recently erected a cafeteria for the use of students. Mr. Rosser had utilised the day pupils in the construction of the cafeteria, and the experience thus gained by those pupils was invaluable. Further the cafotoria was proving of great convenience to pupils, who could now obtain refreshments at a nominal prico and then.proceed with their studies or training without the necessity of their having to journey to and from their homes for a meal prior to commencing their lessons. Mr. Dick said he would like to draw attention to the inadequate salaries offered and being paid to technical instructors. For some reason, difficult1 to appreciate, the technical staff were graded and treated differently to tho academical staff, to the distinct disadvantage of the formor. That, to tho speaker's mind, should not be so.
