VICTORIA WINS THE EIGHTS
Tha first eight-oared University boat race to be rowed in New Zealand was ••worthy of its epoch making significance. The two crews, representing Auckland and Victoria raced over the three-mile Korokoro course arid were followed by a surprisingly large number of spectators. [Victoria won by three lengths. The crews were:— Victoria University College: F. H. Mullins (str.). K. F. Crease (7 , F. M. Bell (6), AM Taylor (5), C. Steel (4), S. G. Kees (3), G. Thomas 2), R. Mtoffat (bow). HWop (S)?C d'Anihreau (4), J. Blakey Victodf drew level. They raced on even terms until 500 yards from home when both cracked on the pace. Ro«s, how ever, shortened his stroke when neqmcK enei. while Mullins retained his length. 8 rowed better cond!tions * fortnight previously. ;
