TOUR FOR FARMERS

BRITAIN AND IRELAND AN INTERESTING PROGRAMME (From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 17th February. Arrangements arc progressing in regard to the coming visit to Great Britain ot representative fanners from different purls of the Empire. They arc to meet in London 011 4th June. They will be reueived ) by the Prince of Wales at St. James s Palace, and that same evening there will be a big reception at which prominent people will be present.. The project has met with generous support at Homo and overseas, and without this approval and help it would have boon impossible to overtake the great amount of work the formation of the plans entailed in the short time since the scheme emerged beyond .the initial stage, or passed from the vigorous mind of its originator, Sir Pieter Stewart-Bam. The following dates will bo taken up, especially for marketing, etc: sth. 7th, Stli, llih, .mli, and J3th June. On 6th •Tune the tourists will all go to the Derby. On Dili June they will bo the King's s'iests at Windsor iv the morning, and in i]io afternoon at his farms and partake of tea. The luncheon will be supplied by Sir Bailey, at which quite a number of people are expected to be present, and on Sunday, JOth Juno they will spend a quiet day. On Thursday, 14th June they will go to Cambridge, and will be together until Monday morning, the 18th, when they split vp into four sections, and they will be touring in all directions until they meet again ■as a party at the Royal Show at Nottingham on 10th July, and they will then only be together for a few days. Then they part again until they meet in Aberdeen on 21st July. After that they will be more or less together until the end of tho tour. , A very interesting programme has been drawn up, not only iv Kugland, Scotland, nnd Wales, but also in Ireland. They cross over to Belfast, on Ist August, and will remain in Northern Ireland for two days, and then proceed to the Irish Free State, when they will go to Killarney, the Dublin Horse Show, etc. Then they cross over to Holyhend, and will be present at the Royal Welsh Show at Wrcxham, arriving back in London at the latest on 12th August. The 13th, 14th, and 15th August have been set aside for a big congress, when the tourists will meet representative farmers from England. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the Channel Islands, and many, matters in connection with the tour will be gone into, and ideas and thoughts exchanged, and further, it is hoped, it may lead to tlic formation of an Imperial Agricultural Union. Next year arrangements are to be made for a tour on similar lines of farmers from all parts of the Empire, to Australia and New Zealand, to be followed in W3O to Canada, and in li>3l to South Africa. Eighteen New Zealand farmers and six lady associates arc expected to participate in tho tour. The party all told will number about 130.
