LOWER HUTT GALA
The gala at Lower Hutt was continued to-day. Bain on Saturday night caused part of the programme to bo cancelled, but did not stop the sideshows and the procession. In this latter event ,tho prizo for tho best horsedrawn vehicle went to tho "Moora Phiro Begade," a turnout which attracted much attention. This morning the Soccer match betwoen Stop Out and Moera resulted in a win for tho former-team by two goals to one. Tho children's!sports were not held, but tho primary schools' relay will be run some time during the week. In. the aftornoon it waa too wet for tho athletic sports, but another Soccer match was to be played. Tho Otaki Maoris arrived about midday, an dthis evening, if tho weather clears, sonic more attractions may be staged. However, special committees have been called to arrange to continue' tho gala every night this week, with a grand finale next Saturday afternoon and evening.
