RUSSIAN GRAIN
DECLINE IN EXPORTS (Received 9th January, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Bth January. The "Berliner Tageblatt's" Moscowcorrespondent states that the Soviet's export of grain which was twelve mil-
lion lons annually before the war and three millions last year cannot exceed one million for the current year, while a decline to 600,000 is not impossible. The peasant brings to market only 65 por cent, of the grain compared with pre-war. The "Daily Express" says that <h» peasants are hoarding their harvest, willing to sell only at prices the State is unwilling to pay. The authorities are organising fierce drives to force a surrender of the grain surplus.
