NOTICE RESENTED

MOTORMEN/AND JALK

OVERCROWDING DIFFICULTY

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

.-■:',' AUCKLAND, This Day. Exception lis taken by member* of the Auckland Tramway Union to a notice warning motormen that good conduct holidays may be. lost if they converse with passengers, and special meetings to discuss the position -will be held on Monday morning and evening. It is contended that the present overcrowding, against -which the union has protested, makes it inevitable, that passengers should congregate on the platforms the cars and incidentally address questions to the motormen. The general matter of overcrowding-will be discussed by the union in- addition to the attitude to be adopted Jn regard to the recent notice. ...-.■ .--.-.

"We know there is overcrowding* we want more cars, but the ratepayers refused to sanction the money," said the chairman of the tramways department, yesterday. Regarding the prohibition, he said, talking was a breach of the regulations,: and notice* to that effect had recently been posted. "We credit the tramwaymen with too much cpmmonsense toy think that they will take any exception to that," he added. -. ■ . :
