MARRIAGE OF INFANTS

A MINOR AMENDMENT

A short measure has been introduced and read a first time in the House ofKepresentatives amending in one particular one of the provisions of the Guardianship of Infants Act of last session.

_ The Act empowers Magistrates to give consent for the marriage of infants but another clause' restricts the jurisdiction of Magistrates to children under sixteen years of age, making the clause under which consent may be given of little tise.

The object of the present Bill is to do away with restriction of jurisdiction, and gives power for Magistrates to deal with the question, of marriages in general. . - .
