DOMINION TRIBUTES

AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH

EMPIRE MARKETING BOARD

(United Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, 7th October. When the Imperial Agricultural Eesearch Conference was winding up it was decided to meet every five years. Mr. Julius (Australia) paid a tribute to the extraordinarily effective work of the Empire Marketing Board. It originally proposed to devote 15 per cent, of its income to research; this had since been increased with most valuable results, and was indicative of enormous potentialities. Dr. C. J. Keakes (New Zealand) concurred. He said' that New Zealand had greatly benefited.

The Canadian delegate (Mr. Grisdale) explained that striking results to animal nutrition had been obtained from the use of fish meal, and suggested that Canada, Newfoundland, Australia, and South Africa should co-operate in tests. Mr. Ormsby Gore, in closing the conference on behalf of Mr. Amery, pointed out that the development of the board's activities was wholly dependent upon the quantity and continuity of supplies from the Dominions.
