The petition to Parliament of Mary Haig Keeble, of Wellington, asking for a compassionate allowance on account of her late husband's service'ln. s the Railway Department, was reported to. the House of Representatives on Thursday by the Railways Committee with an expression of opinion that it should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.
Buttonholes of artificial flowers, now so popular in Britain, are growing larger; at least as many as 150 violets may go to the making of one posy.
