PROVISIONAL MATCHES
Although it was only on Saturday last that the Eanfurly Shield again changed hands provisionally, there are already three unions in the field for matches with Manawhenua, the new provisional holders of the trophy. Taranaki propose to play Manawhenua. on the 31st instant, and Wanganui have a challenge in for the 3rd oeptember. Canterbury/ who will also meet Hawkes Bay, have arranged a match with Manawhenua,. and , desire that it be a shield match if Manawhenua are holders of the trophy.
