YOUNG MAN KILLED
KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR

HAWERA, This Day. Tho Coroner, Mr. Barton, lield an inquest yesterday on the death of Otto Amlchn, a young m_an, about 21 years of age, who was injured in a motor collision on the main road, hear Manaia on the evening of 18th June, and died in hospital on 4th July. A witness said that he had seen a collision between a lighted motor-cycle, ridden By the doeeasod, and a car showing only one light. The car swerved, then proceeded, straight on. The cycle burst into flames. Witness took the car number as 47-416. -He went to tho assistance of Amlehn, whoso right leg was broken.
Two other witnesses said that they had seen a car with only one light about the time of the accident and near the place where it occurred.
A passenger in a car with the number 47-614 admitted that it had been driven on the road about the time. He could not say whether-the car showed more than one light, but- denied having seen or heard anything strike the car.
Tho Coroner indicated that there was a possibility of a charge against the driver of the car arising out of the inquest, and the hearing was adjourned pending a decision as to whether further evidence was nccessarv.
