TROTTING NOTES

j. Bryce's quartette for the Trotting Cup are all doing well. Great Hope so far has shown no signs of soreness and Acron too appears quite sound. Kohara has not done as much work as the other two or.Ahuriri, but he does not require so much, says'the "Star." Ahuriri, who is looking a picture, is doing quite sufficient to be ready for the final • winding process in October. ■ Of course, it is possible that neither Acron nor Great Hope will be able to stand the fast work which will be necessary to fit them for the Cup journey. Don Wild, that really great free-legged pacer, is showing signs of lameness, and his chance of standing. a preparation appears to be decidedly remote.

According to report J. j. Kennerley has the hitherto disappointing Australian pacer Kyana' going in good style. Parkwo<jd is another Australian showing improved form.- ,

W, J. Morlaiid, who bred and raced Escapade in her early days, has a sister to that high-class trotter in work at Addington. This mare is a pacer and is showing a good deal of promise. There was a \iseful work-out last week with Logan Park, Napland, and Concliffe. The three horses started together, but changed positions several times during the journey, evidently at the instructions o£ Tomkinson; who, was behind Conclifte. The Australian pacer went two miles, doing the last part at a good clip, and he paced pleasingly, ,He is_ a most attractive pacer. Logan Park trailed, the other pair for some distance, and then went to the

front, being.pulled np along the back stretch the last time. The ex-Dunedin pacer showed plenty of dash in his work. Napknd,.wao has.not been going too well of late, gave a capital exhibition of trotting.

Golden Devon, Locanda Mac, and Fight Ever are three pacers in the South who are reported to be working well. ■
