Winds—Westerly, strong to gale, backing to southerly northward of New- Plymouth and Castlepoint; south-easterly elsewhere., Barometer—railing tendency, but rising soon in the South. . . "

Seas—Heavy southward of Castlepolnt; considerable elsewhere.

Tides—High southward of East Cape; good northwards; poor elsewhere.

Warning signals for westerly -gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen and Tirittri; and for south-easterly. at vCastlepoint, Cape Campfcell, Stephen Island, Farewell Spit, and Nugget Point. '

Weather —Unsettled and cloudy, with heavy rain probable generally; snow on the higher levels in the Smith, and rivers rising in many parts of the country. , :-
