GROCERY LINES.
From what merchants say, there is a heavy carry-over of salmon, and therefore there will not be anything like the forward business done this year -as last. On the other hand, agents for shippers of British Columbia point out that with a rfall clause operating there is nothing; to be gained by not covering at the present time and that heavy forward business is being done with the United-King-dom. Greek currants are strongly competing with' the Australian article,. which, however, is-said to be well holding its own in this market. New season's' Java shelled peanuts are being offered for Aug-ust-September shipment at a price slightly lower than opening rates of last year. The market for sweet Sicily almonds is reported as Tuiing very high for forward shipment, giving those who have already bought reasons for self-satisfaction.
