VEAL EXPORTS
INSPECTION AT HOME
Last season a quantity of about 150 tons of-yeal meat was exported from IV ew Zealand to the Old Country. This year, however, tho Government received ndvico that the Homo authorities contemplated prohibiting its i, u . r^n a ,NeSotiations were immediately opened by cablegram, and information has now been received that for tho last six months of this year boneless veal packed in a specified manner, will bo looked upon ns admissible, but will be inspected and admitted or rejected on its merits.
"There aro indications," states the Minister of Agriculture (the Eon. O. J. Kawkon), "that the Home authorities aro not at all favourably disposed towards tho admission of very youii"----voal; but if exporters will take caro to see that only tho very best class of tho meat is sent, and that it is packed in the manner required, I am of opinion that thero is an opening for building up quite a considerable export trade out of what in tho past has been largely a by-product of the dairy industry in tho Dominion."
