BREACH OF AWARD

A conviction, T>ut no penalty, was recorded against A. E. 'Preston, Ltd., butchers, of Wellington, in the Arbitration Court on Friday. The firm was proceeded against by the Inspector of Awards for employing a worker without notifying the union of his starting and finishing time. The worker had been employed as a manager in charge of one of the company's shops. A penalty of £10 was claimed by Mr. E. T. Bailey, Inspector of Awards, Mr. P. H. Putnam appearing for tho defendants.
