At Hammond (Indiana) President Coolidge dedicated the Wicker "War Memorial, which is the recreation centre and the heart of the industrial section. He declared that America's present needs were increased educational advantages, crime suppression, old-fash-ioned religious devotion, more work for unskilled labour, and patriotism at the ballot-box; The President emphasised his points by'tracing the development of the United States during the past few decades. He dwelt or its prosperity and achievements and pointed out what he considered was still needed. At the conclusion of the speech the President and Mrs.. Coolidge resumed their journey to Black Hilla (South Dakota) for a vacation.
