TRANSPORT OF MIGRANTS

The Salvation Army has chartered the White Star liner Vedic, of 15,000 tons, for the purpose of transporting 700 migrants to Australia from Liverpool in October, including 200 youths trained at Hadloigh Farm, and/400 domestics. The remainder are all married, and guaranteed employment. Commissioner Lamb, speaking at :i luncheon, announced that if the experiment was succossful other ships would follow conditional upon employment being secured beforehand.
