SEASONABLE WEATHER
The barometer is high over the Dbininion, and fair weather' has ruled, though showers were reported this morning in Foveaux Strait. Some hard frosts were experienced both in the North and South Islands, but the night ■was not so.cold as the preceding one. Although high, the barometer shows a plight falling tendency, and there is a weakness in the Tar North which may mean a change. Mr. D. C. Bates ventures a forecast to-day of prospects of fair weather, though unsettled and cloudy at times in most' parts of the country, especially in the Far North and South. Winds moderate and variable, easterlies prevailing northward of New Plymouth and Napier; westerJies backing to southerlies elsewhere.
