WIFE ILL-TREATED
IMPRISONMENT IMPOSED
A story of. persistent ill-treatment was told by Ellen Veronica Koss, a young married woman, when her husband, Clarorice Frank Boss, a cabinetmaker, aged 28, appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, charged with having assaulted her at their homo on Saturday evening. Ross was also charged with having assaulted Clarence Bredin Smith, his landlord. Mr. A. J. Mazengarb appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Senior-Sergeant Lander said that shortly after 6 o'clock Smith heard screams coming from Ross's room, and on going there he found that Mrs. Ross had been very badly knocked about. Ross then turned his attention to his landlord, and assaulted him as well. The accused denied that ho had struck his wife until sho had kicked him. To Senior-Sergeant Lander: Ho had been unemployed for about three months, and had been supported during that time by his wife. "You are what might be described as 'an untamed beast of the domestic, variety,'" said Mr. J. H. Salmon, in convicting Ross on both charges. Tho ] accused was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for assaulting his wife, and to. one t mouth's imprisonment for assaulting Smith, the terms to be concurrent. ... '.:,
