WELLINGTON WELSH SOCIETY.

The adjourned annual meeting of the Wellington Welsh Society was held on Saturday, when a large number of Wellington Welshmen met together to elect officers and prepare a programme for the ensuing year. Mr. Noel Evans, who has occupied the presidency of the society during the last two years, resigned, and the election of a new president was made necessary. Mr. J. Tucker was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy. Mr. Tucker is a member of the Welsh National Society, a Welsh poet, and well versed in Welsh literature and history; and, although he has been in New Zealand sixteen years, he can speak the language as fluently as a resident of the Principality newly landed. Mr. R. Whittington was elected vice-president; Mr. R. M. Griffiths, a founder of the society, was elected sec-retary-treasurer. Members of the Management Committee elected were: Messrs. S. Griffiths, N. Evans, P. C. Roberts, J. Roberts, J. James, J. Aked, and Mesdames E. Wilman, C. Webber, M. Andrews, E. Richards, L. E. Tucker, C. Ellouden. Mr. Aked was elected choirmaster and Mrs. L. E. Tucker official pianist. The committee will resolve into sub-com-mittees to meet new arrivals and organise functions for the year.
