"FLORODORA."

A movement to revive amateur opera in Wellington had its culmination some six months ago, when it was decided to launch a society to be known as the Wellington Amateur Theatrical Society. The play decided on for the initia-l production of the society was the old-time prime favourite, "Florodora." The music is light and bewitching, -while the plot has both coherence and sustained interest. The dialogue is both clever and witty, and interspersed with wholesome humour.

The society has been fortunate in securing for the leading feminine role of Dolores the well-known soprano Mrs. Amy Woodward. The part of Abercoed will be taken by Mr. Ray "Kemp, ii young baritone who is expected to give a very good rendering of the part. /The fun of the performance will be largely in the hands of Mr. Alf Mazengarb (Tweedlepunch) and Mr. A. Morris Dunkley (Gilfain). Miss Pauline Shotlander should make the part of Lady Holyrood an outstanding one. Other important parts will be filled by Mr. Lionel Inch, Miss Greta Stark, and Mr. D. Alexander. In acMition there is an exceedingly attractive sextette and a ballet of Spanish girls, and also an ample chorus. Mr. Harison Cook is the producer, and Mr. Len Barnes the musical director. The ballet is being arranged by Mr. David Devitt.
