(From Our Own Correspondent.) x , NELSON, Ist June. The death is announced of a resident of 70 years' standing, Mrs. Emily Turner, aged 79. With her parents, tha late Mr, and Mrs. B. Flower, she arrived by the ship Golconda in the year 1857. The Eev. W. W. Bedwell, at present vicar of Takaka, is to take charge of the parish of Kaikoura. A welcome was extended on Monday night to Mr. H. Homer, the new headmaster of the Hampden road school. The Nelson Eugby Union Management Committee on Monday last further discussed the matter of revising the status of the Eef erees' Association, and decided "that the Management Committee meet the Eef erees' Association with a view of re-classification of referees," also that an appointment board be formed composed of two members of the committee and one member of the Eef erees ' Association to deal with the appointment of referees. The Farmers' Union resolved yesterflay to strongly oppose the proposed Daylight Saving Bill.
