CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE

FIRE IN BUSINESS PREMISES (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") l AUCKLAND, Ist June. A fire which threatened to assume 'serious proportions occurred in a threestoried brick building in Rutland street at 10 o'clock last evening. Considerable damage was caused to the stock: of Fraser, Limited, costume and mantle manufacturers, who occupy the first. and second floors. Rolls of dress materials in the. workroom on the • top floor were ruined by tho heat, and portions or the wa.ll arid staircase were badly charred. The fire originated in an electrical switchboard on the first floor, and the flames snread to the staircase, where they were checked. However, the heat was so great that most of the goods in tho workroom were reduced to cinders. The ground-floor, occupied by, Foggitt and Jones, Limited, suffered only slight damage from water. The building, leased by Turnbull and Jones, is covered by a policy for approximately ' £4000 in . tho Royal Exchange.
