SUPERANNUATION

FOR BOROUGH EMPLOYEES

At the Petone Borough Councils' meeting last night, considerable discussion took place over' the question of superannuation of Petone Borough employees. Councillor Scholefield moved that the council adopt the New Zealand Government's Provident Fund superannuation scheme for all employees eligible to become contributors; further, that provision be made for Mr. Cowie's retirement on an allowance of three-quarters of his annual salary, ho being ineligible to contribute to the fund, and allowance was to be paid as considered expedient, the Town Clerk to procure all information and make all arrangements necessary, and to report at the next meeting. Councillor Jacobson moved an amendment that all the council employees bo incorporated in the scheme.

The motion was carried on a show of hands, Councillors Jacobsoii, Pearson, and Longman voting against it.
