GISBOBNB, 30th May.

In response to an invitation from the Gisborne. Harbour Board, Mr. F. W. Furkert, engineer-in-chief, .is visiting Gisborne to pass his opinion on the new harbour works. The -proposal originated from a discussion at the board's last meeting as to the value and cost of the stone at Whareongaonga Quarry now being used for the new works. Mr. Furkert was welcomed at the board meeting to-day, and later retired from the meeting to make further investigations. As the matter is urgent, Mr.' Furkert undertook to make a report on the Whareongaonga Quarry before leaving Gisborne.
