AUCKLAND; 28th May.' A lightning raid was carried -out by the police at a restaurant in Hobson street at 9 o'clock last night, when the building was surrounded and entered. While the raiders were busily at work inside, a large.crowd of people congregated and watched with interest many dozen bottles of beer being carried outside and placed in motor-cars. A large quantity of liquor was seized, and when the liquorladen motors started for the police station the crowd raised tEree hearty cheers for Mr. M'llyeney's men. No one was arrested, but one or two names and addresses were taken, ' .. - ••-,■■ ■
