AUCKLAND; 28th May.' A lightning raid was carried -out by the police at a restaurant in Hobson street at 9 o'clock last night, when the building was surrounded and entered. While the raiders were busily at work inside, a large.crowd of people congregated and watched with interest many dozen bottles of beer being carried outside and placed in motor-cars. A large quantity of liquor was seized, and when the liquorladen motors started for the police station the crowd raised tEree hearty cheers for Mr. M'llyeney's men.
