EMPRESS THEATRE.

The film adaptation of Sir Eider Haggard's well-known story, "She," is being shown at the Empress Theatre. Betty Blythe is superb as Ayeska, the immortal queen who waits down two thousand. years; of- ageless beauty, for the descendant of her beloved Kallikratea, whom she killed in a fit of scorned jealousy. "She" is a woman of wonderful charm, as the Englishman who seeks the secret of a sherd, soon discovers. The Englishman is loved by Ustane, but the simple beauty of the girl is no match for the charm of She. The settings are on a stupendous Bcale. Carlyle Blackwell plays the role of an Englishman, and Mary' Odette is winsome 'as Ustane; Raymond M*Kee and Marjorie Meadows are co-starred in "Romance Road," the tale of an American soldier's love for a rich girl, and how the same rich girl decides to win the boy for herself. It is a charming little love tale. An additional attractiou is the playing of Kamo, described as the fastest exponent of the banjo-maudo-lin in the world. A comedy and a gazette complete the picture programme, which is further enhanced by the playing of Miss Edwards's orchestra.
