. The Be v. Arthur Selwyn Bean, who is a native of Christchurch and was educated at Christ's College, and Canterbury College, has accepted the benefice of Astley, near Leigh, in South Lancashire. Prior to accepting Astley, Mr. Bean was vicar of St. Luke's, Weaste, Manchester, since 1922. Appointments held by Mr. Bean include Chapter clerk for the Eural Deanery ot Salford, Territorial Chaplain to the Forces, attached to the Bth Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers, member of the Salford Education Committee, Diocesan Secretary for the Oxford Mission to Calcutta, and one of the diocesan secretaries of the Waifs and Strays Society.
