WAIRARAPA UNION

CARTERTON, This Day. me Management Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union met at .Carterton on Thursday evening. Application is to be made for a match with the Maori representative team. Reinstatements and transfer were granted as under:—G. Matthews (Featherston), E. Eagle and S. Rogers (Martinborough), W. Denby (Greytown), from senior to junior; R. Usher and S. Jury (Tuhirangi) from junior to third grade; G. Mason (Masterton) transferred to Red Starß; Gillon and M'Nab (Old Boys), transferred to Masterton; J. Sutherland (Old Boys) from senior to' junior; L. Nicie (Technical School) from fourth grade to fifth glade. The Railway Department purposes to run a special train from Cross Creek to Napier on 3rd June for the Ranfurly Shield match, and it was resolved to recommend that the return train should not leave before 7 p.m. The proposed match with the Poverty Bay Union at Gisborne was confirmed. It was decided that the team to play Hawkes Bay on 3rd June for the Ranfurly Shield go into training camp at Solway on 30th May, under the management of Mr. E. M'Kenzie, who will also manage the team on its tour. An endeavour is to be made to arrange a Wellington thirds v. Wairarapa fourths match as a curtain raiser to the return match, Wairarapa v. Hawkes Bay. The New Zealand Union advised that two cases relating to playing the ball on the ground had been submitted to the Laws Committee of the English Union, so that the matter could be made definitely clear. Until these rulings were received, it had been decided to continue ruling as in the past in the case of players playing the ball while they, were on the ground. The Memorial Park Board, Masterton, were granted the use of the park for a college match on 3rd June. Permission was granted the Carterton Club to play Eastbourne at Eastbourne on 3rd June, and the Wellington Tramway team at Carterton on the same date. J. Cooper (Old Boys), W. Irvine (Carterton), T. JFisher (Martinborough), and J. Hutana (Featherston) were placed on the accident insurance. A claim from the i Carterton Club for another player waß not allowed, as the injury was not a football one;

Owing to a misunderstanding as to the locality of the playing ground, the third grade match, High School v. Martinborough, was not played at Masterton last Saturday, and it was decided to play the game at a later date.

The Martinborough ' delegates submitted a report outlining the terms and conditions to be observed in the control of the new playing grounds in Martinborough, which were agreed to with the exception that it be recommended that when Soccer and Rugby are being played on tho same day the receipts be shared on a fifty-fifty basis.
