DUKE'S BUSY MORNING

CHRISTCHtTRCH, This Day. Fourteen debutantes were presented to the Duke of York at the citizens' ball last night. The Duke danced with Mrs., Livingstone and tho Hon. Mrs Tahu Rhodes.
This morning the Duke visited Canterbury College, where gowned students greeted him with a vigorous haka, which greatly amused him. Ha received a rousing welcome from both the men and women students, who cheered wildly, and on his leaving, sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." The Duke, who walked with hat in hand through cheering groups, was, judging ■from his smiling face, delighted with the reception. He took notice of the bust of the late Mrs. MacMillan Brown, the first New Zealand graduate and the first M.A. in the Empire. ■ At the V.M.C.A. he had another ronsing welcome. Here he was introduced to Mr. Henry Patton, aged 94, who is sole surviving member, of those who formed -the Christchurch Association fifty-four years ago. . At the aerodrome the Duke was received by Captain Findlay and introduced to Sir Henry and Lady Wigram and Miss Findlay. Ten aeroplanes went up and flew over the 'drome. Later, on behalf of the Duchess, who was to have performed the ceremony, he laid the .foundation stone of the Nurses'- Memorial Chapel at the Christchurch Hospital.
