NEW WILLIS STREET BUILDING.

A contract has been signed for the erection of the new seven-story buildfS m Willis street for Messrs. Blundell Bros., Ltd., proprietors of the Evening Post," to replace tho present front office building, in which the commercial side of the business has been carried on for tho past thirty years. Tne contractors are the Fletcher Construction Company, the price being over £53,000. . 5

Tfio new building, wide hhas been designed by Mr. W. Feilding, architect, will vise on the Willis street front to 10* feet, the maximum height allowed by the city bylaws, and will have a. frontage of 51 feet, running back to the depth of 90 feet. The lower stories will be faced with polished granite and in delicate tints of vitreous glazed terra-cotta. The construction will be steel-frame and reinforced concrete, so that the premises will be both fire and earthquake resisting. 'The whole of the ground and first floors, and possibly a portion of tho upper stories, will be devoted to offices connected with tha '•Evening Post," and the remaining floors will be equipped for private office suites, approached by separate entrance from Willis street and also by electric elevator. Two wide revolving doors will give access from the main street to the public offices of "The Post," and a second lift will be installed for the use of the staff. Lavatories and strongrooms are to be provided on each floor.

Tho new building will be in addition, to the up-to-date Printing House which has just been completed in the rear, and which runs back to Bonlcott street. The cost of this structure was over £50,000, and it was built by Mr. P. C. Watt to the design of Mr. W. Fielding, architect.
